Almost Live Review: Randy Edelman: Space Center in MA
“This is the eve of the end…..Five minutes to Midnight…There is no more darkness because even at midnight it’s high noon, the hottest day in history, and you’re about to spend it in the “Twilight Zone.” Composer Randy Edelman is about to blast off where no man has gone before….” God has no intention of setting a limit to the efforts of man to conquer space, freeing man from his remaining chains, the chains of gravity which still tie him to this planet. It will open him to the gates of heaven….
“Where you come from is merely stage one of the rocket that is your life“, and who better to express that in music is the maestro Randy Edelman who wrote the theme for NASA. Pre-selected from his cosmic catalogue Randy’s songs sever the heart with romantic lyrical poetry and then he repairs it with his intoxicating charm and eclectic elegance….
he music he has composed for over 100 blockbuster films Includes everything from whimsical overtures to music darker than jealousy and stronger than love. His comedy medley focused on music he composed for movies including “Billy Madison”, “Twins”, “My Cousin Vinny”, “While You Were Sleeping”, “Ghostbusters ll”, “Beethoven“, and others while his more serious side included “Gettysburg”, “Last of the Mohicans”, “The Mask”, and a cascade of others. To his credit other films and television shows he orchestrated encompass “The Chipmunks”, “The Care Bears”, “Kindergarten Cop”, “XXX”, “Anaconda”, “Drop Dead Fred”, themes for various ESPN events, themes for the Olympics and NASA and the hit television series “MacGyver.” The never-ending list never ends and still continues. He has also just released on the original Ghostbusters ll soundtrack via Sony Classics. But it doesn’t stop there…with over 15 million Spotify streams on film compositions including “Dragonheart”, and stay tuned for his musical “Short Cut” about the building of the Panama Canal.”
Harnessing his ultimate power the “piano” Randy seized the stage imprisoning his congregation for nearly two hours (and another 2 would have been appreciated), while they sat mesmerized. capturing the elements of his life and career.
