Boston City Winery Announces: “A Weekend in New England” w/Randy Edelman Sunday 10/1/23 @ 12:00 PM
The Boston City Winery is proud to celebrate “A Weekend in New England” with world-renowned composer Randy Edelman on Sunday October 1, 2023 @ 12:00PM located at 80 Beverly Street Boston, MA. The illustrious serialist and raconteur tempts you to join him on an intimate, romantic and musical voyage through the soundscape of his eminent careers. His performance comes after the eve of his induction to the New England Music Hall of Fame for his contribution to integrity of New England’s music with his “A Weekend in New England” (as recorded by Barry Manilow), and his soundtrack to the film “Gettysburg” the Ted Turner Civil War epic.
Randy’s music is not of an ordinary world, but rather from another dimension …one that has no time for things that have no soul. Cascading wildly through infinity his music brings joy, an ephemeral spark, a firefly’s ethereal glow, the feeling of running against the wind, a quicksand of shadows and an echo of memories, the darkness of bitter coffee, the light of a madness that shines. His symphonies embody all of those emotions and more…sensitivity is his strength, romance his poetry…music his passion and predestination…
It’s never safe to think we are done in life. When we imagine we have finished our story, destiny steps on turning the page and showing us another chapter. Randy’s career dances with change. From conducting orchestras in the pits of Broadway to Clive Davis and Columbia Records, to a pop career in the UK on Elton John’s Rocket record label, Randy wrote songs covered by icons including Patti LaBelle, Olivia, Newton-John, The Carpenters, Nelly, Willy Nelson, Blood, Sweat and Tears, Dionne Warwick, and even Bing Crosby. He opened arena and stadium concerts for The Carpenters, and even the legendary Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention….
Suddenly serendipity stepped onto the threshold of success and Randy went on to become one of the leading soundtrack architects for over 100 motion pictures and television themes. Some of those include “My Cousin Vinny”, “Ghostbusters ll”, “The Bruce Lee Story”, “Dragonheart”, “While You Were Sleeping”, “Kindergarten Cop”, “Twins”, the theme for the hit series “MacGyver”, the theme for the Olympics, and the monumental film “Last of the Mohicans” which earned him a Golden Globe nomination.
Presently the multi-award winning composer has created a one-man show and has been playing for sold out audiences in New York and London for the past two years. This year alone the genre conquering musical chameleon has written the scores for films including: the Josh Webber/ Cuba Gooding Jr. Holiday movie “Athena Saves Christmas”, the new thriller set to air on Amazon Prime in October “The Possession of Anne”, the Ghostbuster ll documentary “Too Hot to Handle” and the Ate de Jong Nashville sensation “Heart Strings” to name a few. Randy is also in the midst of recording an album of brand-new music for Tribeca Records.
Randy’s book of life is musical. He is the composer of his own destiny. He has the power and ability of lifting the spirit of the millions. His music evokes an intricate relationship with his audience, embodying the vital aspects of human life. In essence his music is a wordless illumination of humanity that stands before the judgement of time.
