Live Review: No Mansfield @ SohoJohnny Presents Let Me Help 9/11 Fashion and Music Celebrity Benefit Gala Concert @ Rumi Event Space NYC 9/11/21
At first glance No Mansfield is a Rockstar. There is no denying it, crazy hair, colorful clothes, free spirited attitude, and the scent of weed surrounding him. However all at once and with no prior warning his alter ego comes forth and not unlike Clark Kent or Superman he becomes Frank Schubert, the mad scientist who creates water systems and Mars habitats for other mad scientists as they plan to colonize Mars. But tonight he was a Rockstar.
No Mansfield has played with Aretha Franklin, Rod Stewart, Berlin, No Doubt, Devo, Scott Page from Pink Floyd and many others. As a studio musician he plays over 17 instruments and well, and he’s probably one of the best guitarist on the planet. Currently he plays with San Francisco psyche band Revolushn along with Dave Kendrick the drummer of Devo and his wife Bundles, as well as several others. He has recently released a brand new album entitled “3.”
Tonight he joined the stage with Joey Belladonna from Anthrax, Rocky Kramer an Allied Artist Music Group Recording star and Jon Butcher a solo artist who’s played with BB King, the J Geils Band, Leland Sklar, and many others. They were also joined by DRMAGON, cyborg drummer. Also on the same stage was Felipe Rose from the Village People, Kim Sledge from Sister Sledge, Leon from Leon and the Peoples, and solo artists ARO, April Rose Gabrielli, KULICK, ARO, Kreesha Turner, Manny Calbo, Mickey Burns from the talk show Profiles, and even SohoJohnny did a duet with Kim Sledge. World renowned composer, film scorer Randy Edelman Also performed along with other well-known celebrities. Mario Van Peebles from New Jack City and famous author Howard Bloom were also in the audience.
It was a celebration and also a tribute to the 20 year anniversary of 9/11. It was a Benefit where part of the proceeds were given to “Operation Warrior Shield” an organization that’s supplies wounded veterans with service dogs to make their lives easier. The event was produced by SohoJohnny, John Velasco, DRMAGON, and World Star PR.
No is already a superstar on many different levels, but tonight he played bass on stage a super rock star… or like a Superman!!
