LIVE REVIEW: “THE MARSHALL TUCKER BAND” ROCKS THE LIGHTHOUSE” AT MONTAUK POINT 8/21/21 WITH THE SUPERSTAR OF THE EVENT SOHOJOHNNY

The storm alerts bombarded our cell phone all day, every 10 minutes warning us of the impending storm threatening to make landfall upon Montauk Point just hours before the concert. The historic lighthouse appeared ominous against the gray sky as the waves below came crashing down against the cliffs. However, when SohoJohnny made his entrance onto the hill suddenly the stars above dazzled and the vibe illuminated.

Dressed as only SohoJohnny could dress in a studded black and animal print vest, black and red pointed shoes, and cowboy hat, the people of Montauk were drawn to him. Herds of women and men alike clamored to take pictures with him, talk with him and ultimately find out who he was. As he is, a humble man of the people he made sure their wishes were for filled. There has never been a cause that SohoJohnny ignored and as such he was happy to sponsor the evening’s event.

Despite the warnings of hurricane “Henri,” thousands showed up for the lighthouse maintenance benefit concert featuring “The Marshall Tucker Band“ on Saturday August 21st. The uncertainty of tempest reminded one of the prevailing winter winds that made it necessary for the lighthouse to guide sailors approaching from the sea along the south side into New York harbor after George Washington commissioned its construction in 1792.

The concert began under the hazy sunset shadowed by the clouds with two local bands, “Hopefully Forgiven”, followed by “The Montauk Project.” Both bands rocked the congregation until the full moon crowned and the waves below the cliffs roared. The crowd welcomed the darkness as a canopy where the stars could shine…and shine they did at the arrival of “The Marshall Tucker Band.” However, first animated MC Lenny Defina who kept the night going, proudly introduced producer Kenny GIustino of “The Montauk Music Festival” who shyly greeted the audience and then sponsor John “SohoJohnny” Pasquale, who took the mic by the horn and respectfully introduced “The Marshall Tucker Band.”

SohoJohnny was given a generous amount of time on stage to talk about his foundation, “Let Me Help, Inc” who’s mission is to help people whose lives and livelihoods have been affected in someway by an unforeseen circumstance or illness by raising money through the celebration of music, laughter, and dance. In SohoJohnny’s on words it’s to “spread music, joy and illumination to the human soul and spirit while helping others.”

He also talked about his up and coming 9/11 Celebrity Benefit Gala Concert” happening on September 11 at Rumi Event Space in Manhattan. The event will feature celebrities including Afroman, Corey Feldman, Kim Sledge,  Joey Belladonna (Anthrax), Randy Edelman, Fred Schneider (B-52’s), Mickey Burns, Kreesha Turner, April Rose Gabrielli, Charlie Z, Howard Bloom, and a host of others. The concert will donate a portion of the proceeds to “Operation Warrior Shield” an organization helping wounded vets through the service of dogs. The event also pays tribute to the 20th anniversary of the tragic 9/11.

Humanity is fragile and all the sunshine in the world can’t save the frail or make the delicate invincible. But love has the power to strengthen and protect and guide us to a place where we feel sheltered and fulfilled, where it doesn’t matter if it rains…….
